I've Been Beachin'

Mr. P was hoping for a shag contest on his trip to South Carolina with four girlfriends and me! We spent four days in Myrtle Beach from April 24-28 and we packed the weekend with plenty of rest and relaxation and beautiful beach time. Sadly, no shag contest for Mr. Pickle. Maybe next time!

He stayed in a condo right on the ocean and it was equipped with a pool and a hot tub. HELLO! The hot tub was amazing and if he had toes they would have wrinkled up he was in there so long.

The condo was also equipped with plenty of beach decor inside. Flip flip flop to the flippity flip flap.

Mr. P's first big adventure was to the coolest miniature golf place ever. It was called Mount Atlanticus Minotaur Goff and was 18 holes of pure magic and fun. Mr. P even got a few holes in one.

Mount Atlanticus Minotaur Goff was not only great because of the fun course but also because of fun things like this wall mural. We have no idea what is going on.

His first big meal was at an Italian place that one of his hosts has been visiting for years. He got a bottle of chianti and was serenaded by an accordion player who when not knowing any Beyonce songs played the theme song from Game of Thrones. I then suggested the Indiana Jones theme, which he played but changed the lyrics so it was about polenta! So fun. Mr. P was in stitches.

No trip to Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand is complete without visiting one of the 576 beachwear shops. Talk about sensory overload! He laughed as myself and two friends bought the COOLEST beach towels ever.

Red Monkey was not impressed with Mr. Pickle having a rest on his back.

The next day Mr. Pickle joined us for a ride to Charleston, where we stopped at Johns Island to visit the Angel Oak Tree. Rumor is that it is 300-500 years old. The tree was GIANT, with beautiful limbs crawling onto the ground. It was majestic to say the least.

All that tree huggin' worked up an appetite. We headed to Black Bean Co., a Charleston chain that offered a ton of vegan options. Check out the size of that chocolate chip cookie! Vegan!

Mr. P headed to downtown Charleston to see the sights. The Charleston City Market featured sellers and crafts. He found some dill flavored lip balm. He was not impressed.

The city featured some fabulous architecture, from historic homes to beautiful churches like the Huguenot Church.

After walking in the hot sun and along the water Mr. P decided to wet his whistle with a Dragoon Punch at the Husk bar. I loved this place! So did Mr. P.

Next up was some snacks. We headed to Craftsmen Kitchen & Tap House, which we randomly found on our way to Husk. I loved this place! They had 48 taps going, and Mr. P enjoyed tasting the fruity ones with me.  They had amazing snacks and the bartender was good company.

Feeling refreshed Mr. Pickle walked around town a bit to check out some of the shops. At Savannah Bee Company he tasted the sweet honey and enjoyed the atmosphere.

PEOPLE MATTER! Mr. P knows this, which is why he hangs out with them so much. Pickles matter, too!

After a bustling day in Charleston, Mr. P was beach bound back in Myrtle Beach, where he spent the good part of two days soaking in the sun on the breezy beach.

He even encountered several jellyfish that washed up on the shore in the mornings!

Dinner that night at Nance's Creekfront Restaurant involved this large statue and a lot of oysters.

After dinner Mr. P enjoyed a walk along the boardwalk in Murrells Inlet -- with a beautiful sunset on the water as a bonus.

The last day there Mr. P had to get a few more ocean hours in. The skies were too blue.

After such a relaxing and warm vacation it was hard to pack up and head home to chillier air!

Mr. P still has room in his summer schedule! Check it out and see if he can join you on a trip. He hasn't visited all 50 states yet -- help him reach his goal!

Lake Michigan & North Carolina!

Mr. Pickle was the lucky guest of Miss April as they ventured off to Lake Michigan and then jumped down to North Carolina from August 7-12. NC is a state he hasn't visited before! His 22nd state. He's almost halfway to all 50 states! They had a good time relaxing and hitting the town.

He's a bit concerned that the seagull wanted to eat him, or at least steal his new umbrella. April and friends were good protectors and all survived.

Ah, the view. Ah, the relaxation. It was a bit chilly and windy! He had to don a snazzy red cap. He won't pass up a chance to accessorize.

Mr. P is looking very smart while driving through the mountains on the way to North Carolina.

An evening at a local bar, taking in the sights.

Mr. Pickle was super into the the music at the blues show! He's a huge fan of live music and he doesn't get enough of it.

~~

Another great trip! He's still on the mission to hit all 50 states and some exotic countries in between.

New Orleans or Bust!

Mr. Pickle was the lucky guest on another business trip with Miss Olivia. This time they stayed States-side and headed to New Orleans from October 12-17. He's been one busy traveling pickle lately! And he's loving every minute. One minute he's in France, the next minute he's in the French Quarter.

Planning time! Books and beads.

Mr. P says hello to the New Orleans Convention Center.

Tiny swag at the neuroscience convention. (I said it was a busines trip!)

A beautiful early morning in Jackson Square.

Yes, yes, and yes. Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde. He is looking like a most dapper pickle ready to devour ALL THE SWEETS.

Why must Mr. Pickle encounter alligators every time he visits New Orleans? At least he manages to escape the clutches of death each time. Phew.

Mr. P enjoys some unique corncob ironwork on Royal Street. He's the size of corn!

Eyeing some chicken and frog cakes at Croissant d'Or Bakery. I don't even want to know what these are. Thanks Olivia for taking him to yet ANOTHER bakery :)

They visited100 year old Central Grocery for a muffuletta, because apparently no trip to New Orleans is complete without this muffuletta.

Mr. Pickle checks out this original soda fountain at the Pharmacy Museum. This place sounds pretty cool!

Mr. P meets his first voodoo doll at the museum. He's not quite sure what to make of the poor thing.

Would you like some voodoo goofy dust?

This cute green guy makes a spectacle of himself at the spectacle display at the Pharmacy Museum.

An original pharmacy show globe! Mr. Pickle was happy not to break it.

Enjoying a view of the Mississippi River and the river boat Natchez and the plus-shaped World Trade Center.

Please take one pickle at Preservation Hall. Pickles for the soul!

How about a sip of a cherry hurricane wine slushie? Yes please!

Mr. P and Miss O enjoy a walk all the way down Magazine Street with a carrot, beet, kale juice. Yep, this pickle digs kale.

They even caught some Lousianna-made shorts at the NOLA film festival!

Fpr some reason, pickle things are everywhere. Like this pickle bottle stopper. Mr. Pickle is perplexed, his face just doesn't show it.

Wow! Olivia sure can pack in some sight seeing while on these business trips, and Mr. P is always happy to guide her along.

~~

Next up is Chicago and some east coast touring. Check out his itinerary and let me know if you wish to take him with you somewhere! He'd love to show you his hat collection.

A Pickle's Christmas

I was happy to send Mr. Pickle off with my friend Miss Olivia on a trip to Atlanta, Georgia from December 23-28. He had a great holiday with her while she visited with her family. No pickle Christmas would be complete without elves, cookies, cupcakes, and pigs!

First up was meeting the Elf on the Shelf. It kept an eye on Mr. Pickle and his new friend, Olivia's 3 year old niece Madison, as they waited for Santa to come.

Of course Olivia had to get to baking some fabulous treats, and of course Mr. P had to get it on the fun. Check out that dandy lil apron! No flour mess on this pickle.

He enjoyed being tucked in for a cozy slumber.

Play time! First up was an ABC board game.

Then some quality time playing with his new farm pals. (Talk about anthropomorphic bliss!)

He took a ride on the Pink Pig! Macy's Pink Pig has been a popular holiday attraction in Atlanta since 1953. Families (and pickles) line up for a ride on the Pink Pig.

No trip would be complete without some quality munching. Mr. P and his hosts enjoyed soup and sweets at Dulce Vegan. YUM.

All in all, he had a fabulous holiday, relaxing with his new friends. He's looking forward to getting back out in the world. Will it be with you?
His winter is pretty open, and he's looking forward to an adventurous 2012.
